In 2010 the Flintstones celebrated the 50th anniversary of their first show which aired on September 30, 1960. The show ran for six seasons on ABC, and was produced by Hanna Barbera Productions. The Flintstones and their neighbors (and usually friends) the Rubbles lived in Bedrock (which was sometimes referred to as ‘Rockville’ in some of the early episodes). Everyone remembers the lyrics to one of the most easily recognized theme songs of television history: Flintstones, meet the Flintstones. They’re the modern stone age family. Purchase The Flintstones Entire Season One Summaries of Season One’s first ten episodes: 1-“The Flintstone Flyer”(September 30, 1960) Fred fakes an illness so he and Barney can go to their Bowling Championship and get out of taking their wives to the opera. Using Barney’s homemade helicopter they join their team for the tournament. Eventually, a loose-lipped Barney gives away their evening activities. 2-“Hot Lips Hannigan”(October 7, 1960) After making Wilma and Betty disappear through magic, Fred takes Barney to a nightclub, the Rockland, where an old friend, Hot Lips Hannigan, is performing. The club is cool until the wives show up, disguised as “hepp chicks” and teach their husbands a lesson. 3-“The Swimming Pool”(October 14, 1960) (the first episode produced) Fred and Barney build a joint swimming pool in their back yards, leading to fights before Fred’s surprise birthday party. (In the Jetsons episode “Elroy’s Mob” a classmate of Elroy’s watches a clip of this episode on his wristwatch TV) 4-“No Help Wanted”(October 21, 1960) Fred uses his influence to help Barney get a job as a furniture repossessor. Barney’s first assignment is to repossess Fred’s television set! Barney ends up paying off Fred’s television bill with his first paycheck.
